To answer your question, yes I would still play OSRS if everyone else quit. Rev Caves would be MUCH LESS nerve racking. Trying to get my clan mates to anti PK is like pulling teeth, especially in multi combat areas.

At the end of the day I attribute it to burnout. Stressors from real life bleed over into our interactions and take away the energy to be social. And those who are social and friendly only require one asshole to go out of their way and ruin the experience, then those folks stop talking too. The social contract and actually punishing hate speech might be helping remedy this issue in some part, it could be correlative and anecdotal but I've had people be way more social in the brief time since it's kicked into place. I think people are more likely to say hi to a group when they're less worried about getting a "shut up f**" in reply. We have a social contract in real life, but the anonymity of the internet makes people feel empowered to break the rules of polite society. I hate that they've had to codify it but I do see a lot less bigotry in chat. Unfortunately the anti-social aspect is one where it works in a landslide and is hard to remedy. Guilds do help, but I think we need more content that requires communication, and maybe we need some events to incentivize people being social with each other. Hard in M+ to actually chat with anyone, but it's amazing what the Galakras fight in Remix does for social interaction while we're killing time. Having the game also function more and more like a job and needing to be constantly running stuff without taking a breath is also to the detriment of the social fabric.

How many NOT GAMERS started gaming, how many of their expectations we OFF BEAT yet PANDERED TO, how many of these noobs kept gaming after wards, and what their LARGELY CARELESS PURCHASES of EVERY PRODUCT UNDER THE SUN in gaming DID to the industry. If you start your wow play by asking which class and spec is currently the strongest instead of which class you would like to play as, you put too much pressure on performance to the detriment of enjoyment. And if you cant enjoy something if its not efficient, just remember, videogames are a waste of time. You could always work instead.

As much as WOW was good it was a blight on MMORPG’s. It basically dominated too much and killed any new MMORPG’s that came out. Blizzard has not needed to better it and so it has been a continuous cash cow for them. I wish other companies would try and compete but it is just ingrained into MMORPG gamers now. I played Wow during Wrath of the Witch king and pretty much let it go after that. No complaints and I enjoyed it. I just wish that MMORPG’s had grown into something more…..

That's ff14 right now. My entire Friend list on all 12 of my characters are grey. I got extremely heart broken. Eventually I just quit myself because yeah, I loved the beginning and every moment until 6.0 hit. I had my problems with the damn thing but now it's just dirt cheap with no real incentive to actually bother logging on. Gear is useless if there's nowhere to use it. The community has only gotten worse. And the devs never once think to themselves "where did we go wrong?"

MMOs are antisocial because players no longer care about social, to most you're just a tool to fill in their party like a bot would.

Started the game around the launch of TBC, on a server opened for the expansions launch, and I'll never forget the opening of AQ...because a guild got a player with all the pre-reqs to do a server transfer and ring the gong without notifying the server that it was happening. There was a mad scramble for people to get online and a _lot_ of rage on the forums about what went down.

Whould I play if there was no other players? Yes. I don’t care about achievements for showing off the other players. I play for fun. I stopped playing MMO’s when the companies that produce them made them easier and easier to level. I remember playing EQ. Getting a level was something important that wonderful ding sound! I have no interest in playing with a bunch of kids who have no patience

Because online people are anti social and keep fighting as if there is an opinion that can be considered an absolute fact. I hate being forced to group up. The way I like group content is like in gw2 and the fate stuff in ff14.

At least in the case of WoW, the problem for me is that they keep trying to raise the bar of what the high end PVE endgame should be. They made dungeons that are a race against time and have some absurd extra weekly mechanics and they added an extra difficulty level for raids that is intended for fewer people than it is worth making content for. In order to take bigger bites out of that kind of content, people have become way too dependent on going out of their way to get the most out of their group. This min/maxing attitude bled into the less hardcore masses of players and we are at a point where a lot of people expect too much from each other and any content that is not absolutely brainless is often a nasty experience even in the phase of trying to join a group for it.

It's just like the real world really. I need people to run the gas station, and stock the shelves the grocery store, but I don't really care who it is, and I don't want to talk to them, or anyone. Carnival's are fun with all the people there but I don't care to talk to any of them or know them, they're just ambience and background soundtrack stuff. They probably don't care to know me either.

You know I can’t troll I can’t talk I can not make fun of…this video is telling it like it is. But let me ask u a question? Do mmo start to become more like a job or at easiest a school classroom where we ourselves shift between the forms of the class clown, the jock, the cheerleader, the giver, the taker, etc. Yeah it’s like when u first start it’s like ur new girlfriend/boyfriend, loving, embracing, can do no wrong. But as deeper and deeper into the mmo u go, the closer it gets to reality and the loss of real life u realize, you start to realize the inner demons of the lifestyle, u argue for that one month break. And hope u get the courage to break up permanently. It’s like in gaming the greatest problems with MMOs, is its greatest sell point on paper. It’s massive world(who doesn’t love to travel and see new places), multiplayer(lots of ppl good and bad in all areas), online(unlimited and not confined like our walls or our bricks or our kitchen). It’s like when we are young or at a big trajectory…these things in MMOs sound like our big big dreams. But as we play we lose ourselves in the process. And it’s not the virtual world we then seek. It’s not lots of women or in the females case lots of men…we aspire to. Our dream becomes to have our own. Isn’t mmo greatest sales pitch idea that sounds great on paper it’s greatest enemy. It’s like we are all destined to outgrow MMOs. And it’s fuf that it’s almost like a bf/gf. Anyways I gta get myself out of MMOs. What are some active and vibrant MMOs out there rigth now that are still very socialy strong, and preserves some of this old MMO golden age of player interaction. Ide say Ragnarok online which is available on Steam still retains some of this. Wow Classic comes to mind also. having to manually form dungeon groups.

The Fist of the Deity was my favorite-looking weapon. I loved it on my rogue, especially after they made it one-hand instead of main hand (which meant you couldn't dual wield it and it always looked unbalanced until the change). Then they changed it years later and I couldn't use it anymore. Can't remember why exactly, maybe because it was either sword or dagger and I was specced for the opposite on my rogue. But combining that with the Assassination set looked awesome. I always thought it looked glaive-like.

And this is why I quit Trove 2 years ago. It's one of the most pay to win, repetitive, grindy MMOs I've ever touched and the player base is very toxic. Everything revolves around making as much flux as possible to then buy stuff and increase your ranks. I've seen players exploit each other via scamming and duping just to achieve this. Global chat is practically unusable due to the amount of trolls spamming constant nonsense looking for attention. People are also relying on clubs that have players with near maxxed out classes to grind delves for crystal 4 gear because actually playing the game like it's intended is too much I guess. The progression used to be shadow > radiant > stellar, the highest you could get before you increased your magic find via mastery being shadow. Stellar was the highest gear before crystal 1-4 was added (console). I heard PC has crystal 5. Such a large amount of otherwise meaningful gameplay and social interaction has been stripped from the game. People now literally just sit there AFK at the beginning of delve floors waiting for them to be over with so they can get that sweet crystal 4 drop from the chest at the end and maybe even a mount or pet they can then either use or sell. Now imagine this but with no-lives AFK farming for many hours at a time and absolutely dominating the market place. It's especially bad during events. This is definitely a game that falls into the list of modern antisocial MMOs and I feel bad knowing my friends still spend money on it. Some of them even tried to justify the idea of duping knowing it can ruin the economy. Then again I don't expect much brain power from gen Z.

as someone who has played them all (ever single one you showed, starting with Ultima Online, before even 2nd age was added) it's because I hate being told what to do by others or even working with them really. I have to hear about their boring lives, play at their pace/posisbly around their schedule, it's not challenging grouping either. I do like DUO, yes, more than 2, never. Sure I could play singleplayer or other co-op games, but some MMOs have specific artstyles or worlds that those other games I could play, don't have.

The moment I heard about the requirements to become a jedi, especially, about the last profession, where you basically had to gamble for it, I knew this is a terrible idea. It's crazy how devs didn't reject this crazyness and actually made it into the game.

I loved the old Azshara... It was so serene... I always went there just to sit on the cliff, look at the ruins down by the bay and listen to the music during Vanilla-WotLK before it was changed as I played a NElf. I hate the new iteration of it to be honest... The only one zone that I didn't like how they changed.

I played up through wrath and quit and in the last 6 months I have been revisiting what blizzard has to offer. I noticed they were starting to lean heavy on "layering" or "instancing" in the open world and I also noticed how bad they were at it compared to competitors. Unfortunately they stuck to their guns and so many of my adventures today are totally immersion fucked by bad layering. Everything from the layering just looks/acts like its derpy to a whole phase is just broken and I have to restart a quest line. The worst example has to be that underwater hell zone they installed for cata. Underwater has its own problems that I wont even get into but the "check points" where all your NPC are supposed to move to never worked right. I did a lot of leaving the zone, logging in/out, dieing intentionally, abandon and redo quest..........this shouldnt be part of the difficulty

Oh man… now SWG! So I got a Jedi and sold it on eBay for 1400 dollars. Stupid holocrons and nightsisters. I must have killed a million night sisters. I did an exploit where ATATs could kill NPCs very early on. So we got ATATs and then lived in the nightsister stronghold. Lol.

Don’t gonna lie…. I was playing at this time… I think I got rank 4 and realized I didn’t want to do it.
